Breaking Borders. Rewriting African Travel Stories.

I am Katchie Nzama — an award-winning African travel storyteller, adventurer, and filmmaker on a mission to change the way the world sees Africa.
I became the first African woman to backpack from Cape to Cairo solo using public transport — crossing borders, cultures, and landscapes with nothing but a backpack, curiosity, and an unwavering belief that Africa belongs to all of us.

My journey has taken me across 35 African countries, travelling solo through some of the continent’s most remote and fascinating destinations using buses, trains, boats, taxis, and the kindness of strangers. From Ras Ben Sakka in Tunisia — Africa’s northernmost point — to Cape Agulhas in South Africa, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, I have traced a continent-wide story of resilience, beauty, and connection.

I don’t just travel Africa. I document it.Through storytelling, photography, film, and adventure, I uncover the people, places, and untold narratives that connect us as Africans. This is not just a journey across a continent. This is Africa, told from the inside.
